Mental health impacts everyone, yet societal stigma and misconceptions still prevail. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 1 in 5 American adults experience mental illness, and 25% of the U.S. population experiences depression and/or anxiety. Individuals facing mental health and substance use disorders often feel overwhelmed and hopeless. At Community Treatment Integrations Oklahoma (CTI-OK), our dedicated team is leading the way with transformative, holistic care for those battling mental health and substance use disorders.
Our specialized mental health professionals integrate trauma-informed practices and researched-based healing modalities alongside traditional methods like psychotherapy and medication. Our approach goes beyond surface-level symptoms, addressing primary issues and treating the whole person. Our holistic perspective on mental health care means we consider all aspects of an individual's well-being – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This comprehensive approach creates a higher chance for our clients to achieve lasting success.
Here are three ways we’re facilitating our clients’ healing journey:
Primary Care Services
With holistic care as our strategic approach, CTI-OK has partnered with Health and Wellness Center to offer primary care services at our Bartlesville and Tulsa locations. Services offered through Health and Wellness Center include:
Preventative care
Routine physical examination
Chronic disease management
Care throughout the lifespan, including pediatric and geriatric care
Regular check-ups with a primary care provider can offer numerous benefits to individuals struggling with mental health and substance use issues. Research has shown individuals with mental health and substance use disorders have a higher prevalence of chronic medical conditions like hypertension and heart disease. Consistent follow-up with a primary care provider can help to identify and prevent the progression of such conditions.
“When someone comes through our doors, we see them as a whole person, willing to take the first steps to better their lives through treatment services,” said Janet Cizek, founder and CEO of CTI-OK. “It is not uncommon for someone to come to us for help and for our counselors to learn that a person’s primary health care has been neglected for a period of time. Our partnership with Health and Wellness Center will allow us to provide primary health care services on site, so that our clients’ healing journeys are truly holistic and comprehensive.”
Family-centered Care
Family-centered care has become a crucial aspect of providing comprehensive and effective treatment to individuals battling mental health and substance use disorders. This approach acknowledges the presence and impact of family members and support networks on the individual's journey towards recovery and actively involves them in the treatment process. This approach provides a more holistic perspective on the individual's condition, taking into account their social, cultural and familial background and allowing for a more personalized and tailored treatment plan. It also helps address any underlying family issues or dysfunction that may have contributed to or exacerbated the individual's substance use and aims to improve communication and relationships within the family unit.
Research has consistently demonstrated the positive outcomes of family-centered care in substance use treatment, including higher rates of treatment completion, lower risk of relapse and better long-term recovery outcomes. Moreover, this approach has positive impacts on supporting family members, who report feeling more knowledgeable and empowered about their loved one's condition.
Our commitment to family-centered care led to the opening of the only sober living facility for families in Oklahoma. The sober living facility provides life skills and active recovery opportunities for qualifying individuals and families, allowing individuals the chance to learn new life habits while surrounded by the love and support of their spouse and children. This program makes recovery less lonely and eases the transition from treatment to family life.
